Read to Succeed

Read to Succeed focuses on reading activities designed to boost literacy for children.  Through our Read to Succeed and TURTLE programs, BCDI members team up with schools, parents and community child care workers to enhance early literacy skills.

Read to Succeed programs activities are held at schools, child care centers, community events, barbershops and more!

We help families build at home libraries with FREE books.  At our Read to Succeed events, BCDI gifts books to children and families to help build home libraries.

Entering the College Zone

Entering the College Zone (ECZ), provides an opportunity for youth and their families to begin thinking about and preparing for a post secondary education. ECZ is a one day conference held at a local college campus each spring and includes workshops, campus tours, and an exploration of college and career programs.

Mentoring and Family Engagement

Entering the College Zone (ECZ) Persistence mentoring program pairs college students, called Griots, with Scholars, for group mentoring.   ECZ Persistence is designed to assist students with academics, social skills, community involvement and preparing for a college or vocational training program.   In addition to mentoring, BCDI offers family engagement programs in partnership with local schools.
