Franconia United Methodist Church, 6037 Franconia Road, Alexandria, VA, is located at the corner of Beulah and Franconia, next to the Franconia Elementary School, convenient to the Fairfax Connector routes 231, 232, and 310. Our traditional Sunday church services are at 8:30 and 11:00 am, our Sunday School classes (for all ages) are at 9:45, and childcare is available 8:15-12:15. - Chamber Music Palisades presents wind trios and quartets

Chamber Music Palisades,Susan Greenberg, flute;Jonathan Davis, oboe;Amanda McIntosh, clarinet;Carolyn Beck, bassoon, play trios and quartets byHaydn, Beethoven, Joplin and more. Details to come.Bassoonist Carolyn Beck has been described as a fearless player as well as a musician with a keen sense of phrasing and color. (Gramophone) She is the Principal Bassoonist with the Redlands Symphony and the San BernardinoSymphony, and performs with other orchestras, early music groups, and studio orchestras in the Los Angeles area. Dr. Beck is currently the adjunct bassoon teacher at the University of Redlands, California State UniversityNorthridge, Pomona College, and Idyllwild Arts Academy. She also performs frequently with chamber ensembles and is an advocate of new music. Her solo CD Beck and Call is available on Crystal Records. She was formerlyprincipal bassoonist of the Buffalo Philharmonic and the Orchesta Sinfonica del Principado de Asturias in Spain.
Jonathan Davis is the English Horn player for the Pacific Opera Orchestra, Principal oboist of the San Bernardino Symphony, and a member of the Northwind Quintet. He plays regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Pacific Symphony, and numerous other Southern California orchestras.In 2001, he was the guest principal oboist of the Kansas City Symphony for two months. Dr. Davis has played with the New York Woodwind Quintet and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. He studied with John Ferrillo and Elaine Douvas at Juilliard where he earned Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Oboe Performance. He also studied with Ronald Roseman at Yale where his degree was a B.A. (cum laude) in East Asian Studies.Flutist Susan Greenberg enjoys a versatile career as soloist, chamber musician, symphony player, and recording artist. The Los Angeles Timeshas lauded her panache." A 36 year member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, she has also appeared as guest soloist with the San Francisco and Oakland Symphonies, the Santa Monica Symphony, the Napa Valley Symphony, and at the Hollywood Bowl. She has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, L.A. Opera, New York City Opera, American Ballet Theater, Joffrey Ballet, as well as at the Casals, Ojai and Marthas Vineyard Music Festivals.Greenberg was the principal flutist for the Hollywood Bowl Orchestras tour of Japan, and has received the Most Valuable Player award on the flute from the National Association of Recording Arts and Sciences. She was a fellowship recipient to Tanglewood and to the Music Academy of the West. She received both her B.A., cum laude, and her M.A. from UCLA. She is presently an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University and is the Co-Artistic Director of Chamber Music Palisades, now celebrating its seventeenth season. Greenberg has recorded for over 500 motion pictures and is the flutist for The Simpsons television show.
Clarinetist Amanda McIntosh has performed with large and small musical organizations across the U.S., in Europe, and in Asia.She has been a member of the Sarasota Opera, the New York City Opera National Company, and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia in Spain, and has worked with a wide variety of orchestras in the United States, including the Boston Pops and the Colorado Symphony.She attended the Eastman School of Music and Tanglewood Music Center, where she met her husband, trumpeter Chris Still.Since the two of them moved to Los Angeles in 2007, she has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Pacific Symphony, and the San Diego Symphony.
